Winter Storm Cato is about to steamroll Thanksgiving plans.

If you haven't hit the road for Thanksgiving travel and you live in the path of Winter Storm 'Cato', then it may already be too late.

The good news? This Nor'easter, set to blow along the East Coast, should be cleared away in time for Thanksgiving shopping. The bad news? Getting anywhere in time to tuck into that turkey is going to be a nightmare up and down the East coast. See MarketWatch's Farmer's Almanac: Horrible weather just in time for the holidays

As of Wednesday morning, airlines had cancelled around 222 flights within, into or out of the U.S. The bulk of those cancelled were flying out of Newark Liberty International Airport, with a chunk gone at LaGuardia and Reagan National in Washington D.C., according to FlightAware.

The best look at this storm so far is coming from outer space. NASA tweeted out this image late Wednesday, showing the incoming storm in all its terrifying glory:

The Weather Channel, which dubbed the storm #Cato, to the groans of the #stopnamingwinterstorms crowd, has been sending out regular updates. Freeway travel is looking dicey and already seeing restrictions on the I-84, which stretches from Connecticut to Pennsylvania.

If you can't get there by plane or car, Amtrak might be the best bet, the rail service's chief executive told CNBC. Joseph Boardman said Tuesday that Amtrak will power through that storm, though there could be delays on the northeast corridor. But, he also said given the infrastructure is pre-Civil War in places, a single point of failure could shut down service to New York City (#goodnewsbadnews).

Maybe one of the best pieces of advice out there, besides getting to the airport early, is to download your airline's app before you head out the door. Oh and here comes that holiday favorite - pack your patience (#fatchance).
