The BBC Sky At Night team and others at the North West Astronomy Festival in Runcorn: Science author and writer Will Gater, Dr Paul Abel, astrophotographer Damian Peach, Professor Chris Lintott, comedian Jon Culshaw, The Knowledge Observatory director Andrew Davies, space comedian Helen Keen, and Dr Chris North.A MAJOR stargazing event has earned its place among the top conferences of its type in the country after organisers enjoyed a whopping turnout and praise from those attending.
The North West Astronomy Festival doubled its crowd numbers on last year and was inundated with requests for tickets for its sell-out Saturday Social Supper with comedian Jon Culshaw.
Visitors were also treated to an appearance from surprise guest and BBC Sky At Night presenter Professor Chris Lintott, to the delight of others on the panel and in the audience.
The festival took place at the Heath Business And Technical Park in Runcorn and organisers Sue and Andrew Davies of the Knowledge Observatory are already looking to build on this year's success for 2015.

The Liverpool Astronomical Society's Steve Southern, front, Jim Lawler, Ali Southern and Geoff Sim. The group regularly hold meetings at Pexhill Observatory in Widnes every Wednesday between 7pm and 9pm.Sue said: 'It was absolutely fantastic - a fabulous weekend and well worth all the work.
'The supper was completely full and we had people desperately trying to get hold of tickets.
'Everybody who came out of the sessions was saying it was great. It was wonderful.
'We had people from all over.
'Someone flew in from Southampton, someone came from Scotland, another from the North East -from all four corners.
'It was a major event. This year it was the third biggest of its kind in the country and next year possibly it could be the second.
'We had the Sky At Night team and Jon Culshaw was an absolute dream.
'The team loved it and want to be involved next year.
'They all got together and had such a good time that they're coming up with all sorts of ideas.
'Things are hard to get off the ground but next year we will be an established name.'
