9 Nerdy Marvel Facts Backed by Science

There are comic book nerds, and there are science nerds - and there are those so smart across all boards, even Stan Lee is baffled.

That spot of academic excellence is reserved for the geniuses who put together the Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. (Scientific Training and Tactical Intelligence Operative Network), an interactive experience at the Discovery Museum in Times Square, New York City.

Discovery Times Square worked with Victory Hill Exhibitions and Marvel to create the city's most technologically advanced exhibition ever. With assistance from NASA, the Science and Entertainment Exchange and Neuroverse, among others, the 10,000-square-foot exhibit incorporates touch screens, holograms, augmented reality, working robotics, eye-tracking and more.

Mashable had the opportunity to walk through the exhibit, and I personally received the chance to embarrass myself in an endurance test against Captain America.

While the exhibit is aimed at families, in attempt to get kids excited about S.T.E.M., Marvel fans of all ages and intensities will enjoy themselves. Seriously, you get to shoot frickin' lasers with your eyes, people.

But the most impressive factor comes from the collaborative efforts to apply practical science to a completely fictional world. It is on another level of nerd and cool - that's high praise, by the way.

Here are a few facts we learned about the Marvel universe during our training at S.T.A.T.I.O.N.
