NASA's LunarReconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) has been floating around the moon for almost five years. To celebrate LRO's fifth anniversary, NASA has pulled five of the best images created with LRO data and is asking the public to pick their favorite.
The LRO maps the moon's surface so its data can be used to image the moon in a variety of ways - everything from the standard topographical maps to heat maps of its core. It has helped NASA scientists understand the moon 'as a dynamic and complex body.' It also makes really cool pictures.
You have until June 6th to vote for your favorite version of the moon. On June 18th, the actual LRO orbit anniversary, NASA will reveal the winning moon. My personal favorite is Starry Night.
